The Reconnect Building Maintenance Training Program

The Reconnect Building Maintenance Training Program provides hands-on, direct training on the job for our youth partners. The program has two elements:

  • Custodial/Janitorial - Reconnect provides daily full-suite janitorial services to Immaculate Conception Church, Thomas Berry Place, and the Passionist Monastery 365 days a year.

  • Building maintenance and repair - Reconnect provides maintenance and repair services including boiler maintenance, fire code compliance, electrical maintenance and grounds maintenance.

Our youth partners are 18-24 year old men who come to us from our local surrounding communities and through referrals with other social service providers. For a majority of our youth partners, the job with us is their first work experience; some have previously held short-term entry level jobs.

We employ our youth partners for three months, providing them direct on the job training and supervision.

Our building maintenance staff have a combined 40+ years of experience, and our senior trainer has worked for the Passionist Monastery for 20 years. They possess - and can train others in - the necessary fire safety certifications for commercial and residential buildings. All our maintenance operations comply with OSHA standards.

Our training takes place on our campus which includes three large buildings with over 50,000 square feet of interior space on a grounds that includes 12 acres.

We provide hands-on training focusing on both the essential and technical skills building maintenance employers need from entry-level applicants
