Lou Miceli, Executive Director

As Executive Director, Lou oversees all aspects of Reconnect’s work, and closely partners with both the Board and the staff to ensure that there is the needed connection between Reconnect’s mission, its vision for the future, and the strategies it uses to achieve and exceed its goals.

Lou’s career in the youth workforce development field began in the early 1990’s, when he was employed as a job coach at Covenant House New York. It was work he fell in love with straight away: There is no better feeling than celebrating with a young person as they achieve their goals, whether it is landing a job, moving up the career ladder, continuing their education and skills training, or making a career plan for the future. “Once a job developer, always a job developer” the old saying goes. 30+ years later, Lou still finds great joy in being part of young peoples’ success.

In addition to his most current leadership role at Reconnect, Lou is most proud of having founded and led Workforce Professionals Training Institute (WPTI) and JobsFirstNYC, two workforce organizations that bring a great deal of value to the workforce field in New York City and beyond.

Lou is an avid walker and hiker, a drummer, and a die-hard Brooklynite. He lives with his wife, three children, and four cats in a little wooden house in Clinton Hill.
