Sonja Ortiz-Gulardo

Sonia Ortiz-Gulardo is the Director of Special Projects for the Beginning with Children Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was the Founding Principal of Beginning with Children Charter School. As the founding principal, she developed the school from a kindergarten first grade to a kindergarten 8th grade school serving 450 students. She was Assistant Director of the Mayor’s Office of Early Childhood Education with the mission of providing a pre kindergarten program for every four year old in New York City. Ms. Gulardo was also the Director of the Multifunctional Resource Center Project in the Institute for Urban and Minority Education at Teacher College, Columbia University.
